For the sixth straight year, Underwood Events was chosen by Rexnord to create its popular summertime employee picnic. Dubbed RexFest by UE several years ago, this event is wildly anticipated every year. It was held at the Milwaukee County Zoo, and 4,200 guests RSVP’d, the largest number ever!
UE managed every detail, from the development of the theme and brand, setup on the site, and activities and entertainment to the sourcing of menu selections that were “ewe-some” and completely “ape-etizing.” UE also brought in a herd of friendly and engaging team members whose only job was to ensure every need of Rexnord families was met throughout the day.
UE commissioned a local children’s book illustrator to draw custom artwork for the invitations, printed materials, and signage. The menu items, contributed by some of the most desirable vendors in the area, included delectable finger foods like ribs-on-a stick, gyros, corn-on-the-cob, cotton candy, sno-cones and kettle corn.
This year, UE added a surprise twist – the Alex Meixner Band, known for it’s unique renditions of popular songs – recreated as polkas. Infectious and fun, families found it impossible to sit still and were seen bouncing happily to the upbeat music. Inspired by their creative interpretation of German music, UE set up a delicious food station nearby featuring traditional sausages and sides, all under the blue and white flags typically seen at Oktoberfest.
RexFest is more than just fun and games though – it also gives employees and their families the opportunity to give back to the community by bringing in a donation of non-perishable food items. This year, guests contributed more than 6,100 pounds of food, breaking a previous record by 2,000 pounds! Rumor has it even the seals were clapping!
UE is proud of its long-term partnership with Rexnord and the trust it places in us to develop and host a vibrant new RexFest each year.
